Install & start Midas

Installing the file

1. In MT5, open File → Open Data Folder. This opens the terminal's own folder, not your regular Windows file explorer location.
2. Go into MQL5 → Experts and copy the Midas.ex5 file there.
3. Back in MT5, right-click Expert Advisors in the Navigator panel and choose Refresh — Midas should now appear in the list.

The bot files are delivered only through your cabinet in Telegram (@MidasGridBot → Cabinet → Download the bot): Midas5.ex5, a personal .set preset with your license key already inside, and the setup notes. You can re-download them any time while your license is active.

Attaching it to the chart

1. Open a chart for the gold symbol on this broker (usually XAUUSD — check the exact name from Open a broker account) and set its timeframe to M1.
2. Drag Midas from the Navigator onto the chart, or double-click it.
3. In the dialog that opens, check Allow Algo Trading (also called Allow live trading, depending on the MT5 build) before clicking OK.
4. Make sure the big AutoTrading button in the MT5 toolbar is green, not red — Midas will not open any orders while it's off, even if attached.

The allowed-account check

Midas checks the account number it's running on against an allow-list before it starts trading — this is a licensing safeguard, not a trading rule. If the EA refuses to trade and the smiley face in the corner of the chart looks unhappy, check the Experts log tab at the bottom of MT5 for a message about the account not being permitted, and confirm your account number and licence match.

First-run checklist

• Account type is MT5 hedging (see Open a broker account) — not netting.
• Full price history is downloaded for the symbol (MT5 will usually prompt for this the first time; let it finish before expecting the EA to behave normally).
• AutoTrading is on (green) in the toolbar, and Algo Trading was allowed in the EA's own dialog.
• The Experts log shows Midas initialized without an allowed-account or licence error.
• The panel is visible on the chart and its numbers (balance, price) match what you expect for this account.
• You've read what the four settings tabs do and set a base lot deliberately — not left on whatever the default happened to be.
• Monitoring is set up (see Monitoring & alerts) before you walk away from the account.
